Q.
How long will it take for a serviceman to repair my
cable if needed?
A. We respond
to all service calls within a minimum 72 hours and usually
can be at your doorstep the same day you call.
Q.
What if I want to move the location of my television?
A. Greene County Cable
Television provides approximately 6 feet of cable upon
initial installation.You may contact Greene County Cable
Television to add more cable or move the outlet. A fee
is charged for such work. If you wish to move the outlet
yourself you can buy the materials at most electronics
stores.

Can I tape Digital Cable programming?
A. Yes. You can tape
any digital channel (100+) and have the option of watching
any analog (99 or below) channel at the same time.
Q.
I am not receiving all of the channels listed on the
TV Guide.
A. Consult the owner's
manual of your TV. You may need to reprogram the TV
to display the additional channels.

My other utilities are buried; can I get my cable line
buried?
A. Greene County Cable
TV will bury your line at no charge if there are no
utility poles. If our lines are attached to utility
poles and you would like to have the line buried, there
is a $50 charge.
Q.
Who decides which channels are carried on the cable
system?
A. Programming decisions
are made by surveying our subscribers to ask them what
type of programming they would like to see. We also
record all requests from subscribers for new channels.
In addition to channels that we may carry there are
a number of channels that the Federal Communications
Commission says we must carry. Also, we cannot carry
some channels because they are not in the FCC Designated
Market Area.

Q.
What are the minimum hardware and software requirements
so that I can use a cable modem?
A. A PC with a minimum
of 64MB of RAM and 500MB of hard drive Capacity is recommended.
Compatible operating system software includes Windows
95, 98, 2000, NT and XP. Web browser software such as
Internet Explorer or Netscape is also needed. If you
are not sure if your system is compatible call 1-888-933-7568.
Q.
What kind of speed can I expect from my cable modem?
A. The speed varies depending
on load and the particular web site that you are visiting
but you can expect normal speeds of 100 kbps to 300
kbps (kilobits per second).
Q.
Can I have more than one computer connected to the cable
modem?
A. Yes. By using a router or
a hub it is possible for more than one computer to use
a cable modem. Greene County does not support such connections
however. Consult a computer-networking specialist if
you need more information.
Q.
How many email accounts come with Greene OnLine?
A. You get 1 email account.
Additional accounts may be purchased for $2.50 per month.
Q.
Who should I call if I can't get on line?
A. Call our help desk first
at 1-888-933-7568. They can tell you if the problem
appears to be in the cable modem, your computer or your
computer software.

When is the bill due?
A. You will receive your cable
bill on or about the 2nd week of the month. Payment
is due by the 28th of that same month.
Q.
What are my payment options?
A. You may pay by check or automatic
debit. Contact the Customer Service office at 1-800-252-1799
to set up the automatic debit. If you wish to pay in
person we have several service center locations. Call
to find the nearest one.
Q.
I go south in the winter, can I stop my billing and
resume in the spring?
A. Yes. We have a special plan
that will disconnect your service and stop the billing
when you leave and re-connect your service and resume
the billing when you come back. Call 1-800-252-1799
